The Rev Harry Wiggett preached at our CCN Partner Good Shepherd Protea (South Africa) on Sunday 4th August 2013 on how his visit to Coventry helps him in his ministry to drug addicts and recovering alcoholics.
Revd Harry Wiggett is priest, poet and prison chaplain to Nelson Mandela, both on Robben Island and Pollsmoor Prison shared his thoughts on his visit to Coventry Cathedral in 2005, and the effect this has had on his on-going pastoral ministry in retirement.
He was especially stricken by the magnificent stained glass windows and the tapestry “Christ in Glory” designed by Graham Sutherland. Rev Wiggett said that as he stood gazing up at this enormous tapestry (It has about the size of a tennis court) of Christ seated, he had an overwhelming sense of God waiting patiently and lovingly for us; always there waiting.
About the baptisery Window Rev Wiggett said each one of us is a unique pane of glass reflecting the image of God, cemented together as a community to make the whole Church.
