Welcome to the first new format e-Newsletter of the Community of the Cross of Nails! We plan that during 2012 you will receive a Newsletter every month. This will keep you updated on the development of CCN and events in Coventry, especially the International Gatherings in July and September. Through it we will also share news from you, our Partners and friends of the CCN, along with other items of interest!
In a few days we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Emanuel. All of us at CCN Coventry wish you all a happy and blessed Christmas! Together we remember that Jesus is the ultimate gift God has given us out of his unconditional love for each and every one of us.
A feature of the new website is the prayer box on the home page. Each month we will be praying for you and now especially for the New Year ahead. May 2012 be a year of seeing God present in your midst as you serve his world in the ministry of reconciliation.
In 2012 we will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the new Cathedral here in Coventry. Please pray for the events and services that will take place, that the story of Coventry Cathedral may inspire a new generation for reconciliation.
The fourth CCN International Youth Gathering takes place in Coventry from the 5th to the 10th July 2012. Providing a meeting place for 18 to 25 year olds from across the CCN Network, it is an opportunity to share with others concerned about peace and justice in today’s world. In worship, small group bible study, workshops and keynote sessions we will listen to each other’s story and learn some of the skills and knowledge needed to create new relationships to bridge the divisions of our communities and nations.
Please visit youth gathering for more information and to make a booking.
You are invited to Coventry for our CCN International Gathering from the 26th to the 30th September 2012. Providing the opportunity to meet others, share stories and learn together, we will join in the Jubilee celebrations at the Cathedral, giving thanks for God’s gift of reconciliation and hope. The International Gathering provides a unique meeting point for all our CCN partners, to worship and pray together, share our stories of hope and pain, encourage and support each other and learn together in the ongoing task of reconciliation. We want to encourage all our CCN Partners to consider sending at least two people to this event which we hope will be a significant moment as we develop our life together as a network.

Bishop Christopher, Christiane Behrens, Rev Robin Youett, Rev Dr. Cornelia Kulawik and Jost Hasselhorn in the German Parliament Building.
Bishop Christopher Cocksworth and Canon David Porter were in Berlin from the 16th to the 20th December 2012 to join the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the new Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche on the 18th December. Like Coventry Cathedral, the church sits alongside the remains of the old building to serve as a reminder of the terror and destruction of war. They met members of the congregation and attended a performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, which also preceded the opening in 1961. On Sunday they shared in the special services which were attended by the German President and other civic and church leaders. We give thanks to God for this witness to Reconciliation between the people of Germany and Britain.
Over the weekend they visited with other CCN Partners in the region, meeting with Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste, 12 Apostles’ Church in Pankow, Martin Luther Gedachtniskirche in Mariendorf and the Garrison Church in Potsdam.
